Free Parking round Hongqiao Business District to be Continued
03/02/2017 Xinmin Evening News

Last August, the incentive “five-hour free parking for any consumption during holidays and festivals” brought a lot of visitors and sales volumes to neighboring businesses. According to the recent working conference of Tianshan Business Alliance in Hongqiao Business District, the free parking activity will be extended into 2017. In addition to the six malls already in, now other businesses are ready to take a share. SOHO Tianshan Plaza having nearly 2,000 underground parking spaces has now been completed and intends to join in the team.

The businesses in Hongqiao Business District cover a total area of more than 400,000 square meters, mainly on Loushanguan Road, Zunyi Road, Tianshan Road and Xianxia Road to form a #-form district. However, the dispersion of major business entities has been a great trouble to the overall enhancement of the district’s competitiveness, and the booming e-commerce has also affected conventional retail industries to cause heavy sales decline of brick-and-mortar stores. In early 2016, Hongqiao Administration Office and Tianshan Road Sub-district in Changning District co-built Tianshan Business Alliance in Hongqiao Business District to work together for better performance. Now 22 business buildings have joined in the alliance that involves more than 4,000 enterprises; with directors’ meeting regularly held, a pattern of independent operation and coordinated management has been shaped.

Reports say that during the five-hour free parking activity promoted last August, customers were entitled to five-hour free parking for consumptions of any amounts in six malls, including L’Avenue, Huijin Department Store and Hongqiao Friendship Shopping Center. This move boosted the average daily visitors flow from formerly 15,000 to 19,000 to 30,000 to 50,000, sometimes even peaking at 70,000. And the turnovers of neighboring malls rose from 2 million yuan daily on average to 3 million to 5.5 million.
