Shanghai No. 3 Girls’ High School Wind Orchestra Stage Show in US

The Empire State Building witnessed a lot of visitors at 8 am on July 12 (about 4 pm American Time) for a concert staged by Shanghai No. 3 Girls’ High School Wind Orchestra at invitation. Opened with a drummer’s solo, the concert included traditional Chinese tracks like Ode to the Motherland and Jasmine Flower, as well as Alte Kameraden and the Stars and Stripes Forever, which are popular in the US.


The grand show attracted local residents and tourists who presented sincere applause. It’s reported that some former students of the School paid a special visit to the site, taking pride in their alma mater. Zhang Meifang, Deputy Consul General of Chinain New York, said 2017 is the 136th anniversary of the school, and the orchestra was invited to the USto celebrate the National Day and the 100th Birthday of President Kennedy. This tour of music, friendship and cultural exchange is sure to contribute to the China-US bond. US personnel, including the PR Director of Empire State Building, believed the concert was not only a great feast of art for American people but got Chinese and American people closer with music.
