German Master Filmmaker Werner Herzog Retrospective Opens in Changning

German Film Master Werner Herzog Retrospective, Jointly sponsored by Shanghai Art Film Alliance affiliated to the Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Association, Changning Bureau of Cultural Affairs and Shanghai Hongqiao Culture Media Group Ltd., German master filmmaker Werner Herzog Retrospective, is being released in Tianshan Cinema from March 24 to April 1.

German Master Filmmaker Werner Herzog Retrospective is the first of its kind in terms of major overseas film exhibition in Shanghai in 2018 and the international event for cultural exchange. Among Herzog’s eight classic films to be shown are Her Majesty of Kingdom of Uselessness, winner of the best director of the Cannes International Film Festival, Nosferatu: Phantom of the Night, cast by famous French actress Isabelle Adjani, Even Dwarfs Started Small, the allegorical work on France “May Storm”,  Klaus Kinski’s acting masterpiece Aguirre, the Wrath of God; Heart of Glass cast by Herzog-hypnotized actors, true story-based the Enigma Of Kaspar Hauser, winner of Grand Prize of the Jury on the Cannes International Film Festival, Woyzeck, winner of Cannes best supporting actress award, and Stroszek, a work criticizing the American Dream.

The eight classic films reflect Herzog’s extraordinary vision as a leading figure in New German Cinema. It is worth mentioning that Herzog will also show up and interact with fans after the release of Her Majesty of Kingdom of Uselessness. At the same time, the eight classic films, which are the latest digital restoration copies provided by Herzog Company, will turn out to be a feast for the eyes of Shanghai fans for state-of-the-art large-screen viewing .

In 2018, Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Association is planning a strategic cooperation agreement with Changning Bureau of Cultural Affairs. This aims to expand the brand influence of Changning Art Cinema and make contributions to the international art film market through extensive cooperation between Chinaand the overseas. Meanwhile, Shanghai Art Film Alliance will serve Chinese films and Shanghai audiences by launching more high-quality films and creating a quality film screening in Shanghai.
