City treats guests with time-honored brands

Time-honored brands are expected to treat visitors from overseas during the China International Import Expo in November.



Three guidebooks will be issued by the Shanghai Commerce Commission to help foreign visitors find the right answer to Shanghai food, shopping and spots not to miss in the city.

Shanghai has 222 time-honored brands, 180 of which are recognized by the Ministry of Commerce.



Local tastes include Nanxiang Xiaolongbao, Xinghualou Mooncake, the Shanghai dim sum banquet of Lubolang Restaurant, the Shanghai style Cantonese cooking of Sunya Cantonese Restaurant, Hong Chang Xing hotpot and the hairy crab dinner at the Central Hotel.

Shanghai Hero Group's gold fountain pens and Shanghai Watch are among local bestsellers.



New fashion streets or clusters at the city’s historic sites and roads, such as the Shaanxi Road N., Yuyuan Garden, Zhujiajiao and Fengjing Town, will provide guests a strong flavor of Shanghai with a blend of old and new.

More than 160,000 purchasers from over 80,000 domestic and foreign companies have registered for the first China International Import Expo as of early this month.



According to the China International Import Expo Bureau, it had planned to organize a total of 150,000 purchasers, but the registration exceeded expectations.

The bureau also said over 40 companies from countries including the United States, France, Germany, and Japan have already signed up for the second CIIE in advance to secure exhibition booths.

Shanghai is scheduled to host the first CIIE from November 5 to 10. Over 130 countries and regions and more than 2,800 companies have confirmed participation in the CIIE.
