01/16/2019 Changning District News Communication Center

Good news for passengers! Several airlines in China, including China Eastern Airlines, Air China, Spring Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Xiamen Airlines, will stop imposing fuel surcharge on passengers travelling on domestic routes as of January 5, 2019.

Fuel surcharge for passengers traveling on domestic routes will be reduced to zero yuan as of 24:00 on January 5, and passengers who book airline tickets for the Spring Festival travel rush are entitled to more discounts. But passengers who purchased airline tickets prior to 24:00 on January 5 are still subject to the usual fuel surcharge under previous rules.

Beginning January 4, 2019, Spring Airlines will make varied readjustments for free baggage allowance for passengers departing after March 1 based on their purchased products. Free baggage allowance will be readjusted from 20kg to 27kg for “economy class” passengers and 25kg to 37kg for “business-economy class” passengers, and free baggage allowance is not included in “VIP seats” products purchased by passengers. Passengers travelling on international routes will still get 10kg of free baggage allowance. In other words, they are allowed to carry a free load of 17kg-baggage including 7kg of hand baggage.

Meanwhile, since March 1, Spring Airlines has marketed a new product: upgrading of hand baggage sizes. Passengers who book this product and tickets of “business-economy class” are entitled to the upgraded hand baggage size from 20*30*40cm to 20*40*55cm with unchanged quantity and weight of baggage.

A kind reminder from Spring Airlines: Passengers travelling on the same air route and having the same weight grade of baggage will get more preferential treatment on baggage allowance if they purchase baggage allowance online in advance.
