With its greening rate of 30%, Changning District ranks No.1 among all the central districts in Shanghai. By 2004, the District’s greening area reached 3,638,000 square meters, and its public greening area per capita was 5.92 square meters. Its community greening areas also ranks highly in Shanghai, in addition to the large public greening areas and outer-circle greenbelts such as Zhongshan park, Huashan, Hongyan and Kaiqiao. In the forthcoming 5 years, the District will improve its greening quality and increase its public greening areas by 900,000 square meters. In 2007, the public greening area per capita was 6.5 square meters.
