The inauguration ceremony of French Rhone-Alpes Wall Paintings Show has been
held at Hongqiao Shanghai City in Changning District. Feng Guoqin, Chairman of
Shanghai Political Consultative Conference, Jean Besson, Vice Chairman of French
Phone-Alpes, and Pian Baiping, Head of Changning District attended the ceremony.
The occasion was presided over by Wu Jinlan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Foreign
Affairs Office.
Feng Guoqin addressed the ceremony, extending his warm welcome to the French
guests and also his hope that Shanghai and French Rhone-Alpes will further their
cooperation and joint development.
Mr. Jean Besson, Vice Chairman of French Rhone-Alpes, expressed his
appreciation for the sincere welcome from the people of Shanghai. He said that
the inauguration ceremony formed a part of the cerebration activities marking
the 20th anniversary of the friendly ties between Rhone-Alpes and Shanghai. The
art of wall paintings is a typical example of the exchange of culture and art
between the two places as well as an exhibition of their friendly cultural
cooperation.
Mr. Pian Baiping, Head of Changning District, was highly appreciative to the
French guests for their decision to select Changning District as a location for
the display of the art of Rhone-Alpes wall paintings. Pian said that Changning
District is distinguished for its cultural basis and its extensive contacts with
other countries. He further noted that the wall painting art is both a symbol
and a product of the friendship between China and France, which adds a
noticeable shining spot to the building-up of an international urban area in
Changning District.
And then, Feng Guoqin, Chairman of Shanghai Political Consultative Conference
and Jean Besson, Vice Chairman of French Phone-Alpes jointly unveiled a model of
wall paintings and watched with appreciation the wall paintings at the
intersection of Zunyi Road and Ziyun Road. The Rhone-Alpes wall paintings were
completed jointly by the Center of Creation of France and Shanghai Theatre
Academy, composed of sketches drawn on travels, which display aspects of the
history and culture of French Rhone-Alpes as well as beautiful symbolic scenes.
