During the summer vacation, the annual Shanghai International Children's
Theatre Festival will be held in Shanghai, and children's theatrical troupes
from Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Taiwan will perform 30 showings of
children's drama in the festival.
Since its foundation in 2004, Shanghai International Children's Theatre
Festival has been held for five consecutive years, successively inviting
children's theatrical troupes from more than 20 countries and regions to show
nearly 200 showings of children's drama to an audience of about 140,000 persons.
This year’s festival themed with ‘Creative Imagination’ will stage 10 plays in
Shanghai, including Canadian doll drama The Lord of the Rings: The Hobbit,
Australian children's drama Check Out!, Singapore's The Little Prince, The Ugly
Princess of Children's Art Theatre of China Welfare Institute, and Shanghai
Puppet Troupe's Little Woodman's Adventure. Especially, "Check Out!" and some
other plays will go on tour in communities such as Xujiahui Park.
